At Zen Yai Thai, our goal is to feed patrons with the tasty, authentic flavors Thai food. We are located in the heart of Little Saigon and are grateful to be a destination for both locals and tourists alike.
We have become famous for our soups. The classic tom yum is a customer favorite. While the word “Yum” in the English language means delicious, in Thai it means spicy and sour...to us, the definitions are synonymous. More adventurous eaters come to our restaurant to try a bowl of dragon boat noodles. To make our stock authentic, we use plenty of beef bones, and reduce the stock to keep it thick. We add meatballs, minced peanut, thin slices of steak, onion and cilantro.
Our daily specials feature a selection of true Thai street food and everyday home cooking. Please stop or call to hear about our specials! Our friendly staff is happy to describe each dish, as they are often the most exotic. Our speciality is Johk , or rice porridge with pork, and is only available Fridays and Saturdays from 10 PM to 1 AM. Of course, the regular menu carries all the dishes you have come to expect from a fine Thai kitchen.
The chefs enjoy making appetizers such as Zen Yai fresh rolls, plentifully stuffed with shrimp, tofu and noodles and an extra zesty Thai peanut sauce made in-house. Our Thai fish cakes have been neighborhood favorites for years. Light sides such as the cucumber and the carrot salads complement all of our spicy dishes very well. Our entrées include a rainbow of curry dishes, including our Mus-sa-mun curry of tomatoes, potatoes and peanuts. We barbecue fresh meats to order throughout the day. Barbecued Thai pork sausage is a treat, and seafood fans appreciate that we offer them charred sea scallops. Please share a bowl of pineapple fried rice and its tender shrimps, chicken, cashews and raisins.
We attempt to offer San Franciscans authentic Thai cuisine and have created a menu that strives to introduce customers to new fusions of flavors, meats, and produce unlike any other Americanized Thai establishment. Stop by and understand how we truly set ourselves apart. You’ll feel as though you’ve been transported to East Asia.
